Alexandra Ornelas is a doctoral student in the Department of Sociology at UC Santa Barbara. She received her bachelor’s in Sociology with minors in Mexican American Studies and Latin American and Latino/a Studies. Her research focuses on women of color and diversity in feminist organizations. In her master’s thesis she examines how a feminist-identified rape crisis center in Southern California transformed from a white feminist organization to a more inclusive organization that provides services to the Latina community and how the organization’s goal of inclusivity has been implemented and maintained over time. She is a 2013 Ford Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellow.
