Amber Lopez is currently pursuing an MA/Ph.D in sociology at UCSB. She holds a BA from USC, where she studied sociology and cinema studies. Amber’s current research extends her prior interest in film and society by focusing on the relationship between media, social norms, and law. Through an analysis of television and news sources, her thesis explores how normative perceptions of rape and sexual assault have shifted over the past three years.
